Washington DC based upright and electric
bassist Claude Arthur has performed with Keller Williams, Rounder Records artist
Slaid Cleaves, former Commander Cody guitarist Bill Kirchen and with Dave
Chappell and Friends, The DC Roots Quartet/Swinging Daves, Pete Fields and the
World Jam Club, saxaphonist Scott Ramminger and former Rotoglow and Modern
Yesterday singer Andrew Hellier.
A professional musican for over 25 years and a graduate of the Music Department
of The University of Mary Washington, Claude Arthur has played electric or
acoustic bass, guitar or mandolin, flute, drums or banjo everywhere from
symphony orchestras to honky tonks, street corners to coliseums, from Europe to
San Francisco, the Kennedy Center and Philadelphia Folk Festival. He has also
performed with, or on the same bill with Chris Isaak, They Might Be Giants,
Cracker, The Stray Cats, NRBQ, Tom Waits, Steve Wariner, Rodney Crowell, Maria
Mckee, Joe Ely, Iris Dement, Nils Lofgren, Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Dan
Hicks, Mark O'Conner, David Grisman, Jonathan Richman, Arlo Guthrie, Slaid
Cleaves, The Clancy Brothers, Ritchie Cole, The Clancy Brothers, Elmo and Patsy,
and members of Counting Crows, The Attractions, Little Feat, Big Brother and the
Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna, The Dead Kennedys, The New Riders
of the Purple Sage, the Tubes, Dr. Hook, The Robert Cray Band, and It's A
Beautiful Day, pianist George Michaelski (featured on the San Francisco based TV
show "Nash Bridges"), and former Oakland Raider Marv Hubbard.
