What folks are saying about Stillness of the Heart:
In a world largely at war, in a society driven by success and passionate debate, Peter Fields lives a complex, multi-faceted life as an elected official, personal fitness trainer, and -- internationally acclaimed classical guitarist. How he manages to thrive on this carousel of life is revealed in Stillness of the Heart. Peter composes himself through his musical compositions, feeling - as he says -- "the music flowing from my heart, through my hands, into the heart of the listener” He reaches a place through music that many of us search for but cannot achieve. Until now. In Stillness of the Heart, Peter's reminiscent collection of compositions for classical guitar, we experience the spiritual connection he wishes us, and by listening, we attain our own stillness of heart. Thank you, my friend, for this beautifully melodic gift! It has joined my favorite works of music and writings that inspire a composed and balanced life. Bravo!

If you think the classical six-string guitar is only for classical music and Willie Nelson, think again. It can be also for softly lyrical music that is lively and most melodic. Peter fields is here to prove that beyond any doubt. His songs are quiet but forceful meditations on the beauty of the heart and the soul of sound. In his liner notes he mentions the connection between the player and listener as spiritual. I could not concur more. This is nothing less than a spiritual album. Just give it a listen and see if you don’t agree. Fields’ songs can be stately or sprightly, but they are always technically precise and uplifting. He is joined on this excellent recording by John Drymon on keyboards and Raphael Cruz on Percussion. Snag this album, light a candle or two, pour yourself a generous glass of a really good wine, and just get lost in the enchantment. Oh, and go to www.peterfields.net for any further instructions.

This set is a happy find. Too many clowns go for the halo effect talking about how they were influenced by this one or that one, but Fields should be a sure bet to get returned admiration from his heroes. A DC area politico by day, we should all be glad he’s turned his passion towards his night job as opposed to his day job as we need more smart guitarists than we do more politicos. A welcome, laid back addition to any guitar collection.
